Tagging

Bucktail Willie tags saltwater fish in the American Littoral Society fish tagging program. The information gathered in this tagging program is submitted to Woods Hole Scientific Labs yearly and is used by scientist in determining the health of the fishery.

Information on tagging programs can be found that American Littoral Society.

The tagging program uses a yellow stick tag that has an ALS address and a number. Tagger fills out a card that has a corresponding number with data of date, species, size, and approx location. The card is sent in and recorded by ALS. When a fish is caught with a yellow tag and the angler sends the data in both the original tagger and the angler who recaught it is notified and the angler also gets a fish patch.

Bucktails has tag recoveries from every State from Maine to NC and Florida in the over 1250 recovered tags of his.
