2018 over

I, for one, am Glad to see 2018 over as I have not had a line in the water since August after tearing an Achilles. But all appears well after finally following Doctors orders and completely immobilized for 2 1/2 months
I put my boat up for Sale or trade down as it has got too much for me to handle in my old age,,Hope to downsize which will also allow me to get back into the many small creeks in my area.Past couple of years with all the beach replenishment has seen my small creeks get choked with sand in the mouths. Still plenty of water once in but can’t stay in for very long or I can’t get out. Most who I have talked too complained about a poor year for Fluke as far as getting legal Fluke ,Striped seemed decent for smaller fish but larger fish were scarce. Bluefish was also down except for the little 6-10″ blues ,but this appears to be the start of another good run.Next year if history repeats we should see an abundance of 14-20″ blues..Sea Bass was hot and cold… Best fish of the year from what I was told was Taugog and they are still being caught today but given the foretasted storm I suspect it will end.
We may see some relief in summer flounder regulations for 2019 but probably won’t know until March. I would give it a 50/50 chance of some improvement in regulations
So Have a Great Winter and lets hope 2019 is a great season
