JULY 31 FISHING REPORT

Well, I was very optimstic this morning when I left dock 4:30. A pretty good storm looked like it was coming across the Del Bay but given wind I figured it was going to go off shore in spite of lightening in the southern sky. Got to the spot I left last night but nothing looked the same, bait fish was absent . I worked the area up to top of tide and only had 1 bass to show for it (24″) Tide started out so decided to try another spot as tide started out but all that showed up was Bluefish chewing up my well trained Spots .Switched to a popper and land 6 Bluefish 16-22″
On way home stopped and picked up a dozen Spots to replace the ones the Bluefish chewed up. I have to find some time to give these new Spots a training lesson

JULY 30 FISHING REPORT CHAPTER 2

Iwent back out this evening on top of the tide and found bass in the same spot as this morning, I managed to get 3 bass
1-30″, 1-28″ and 1-26″
Once tide started out the bite was over .will be back there at first light t in morning to see if they show up a little earlier

JULY 30 FISHING REPORT

lEFT DOCK AROUND 5AM WITH A HOUR LEFT ON INCOMING.
Dick left with me and heaed north and I told him I was going to plug the Sound,No hits in Sound, Top of the tide Dick called and ssaid he had a 33″er so I put hammer down and haded his wwy.when I got there he had another 29″er .My first drift produced a 32″er bass and than it was all over.Have no idea where they went but they were there for 20 minutes in 76 degree water,They probably figure it was too warm and out they went .
I may try again this evening on top of the tide IF weather allows

JULY 28 FISHING REPORT

Water temp and air temp was the same at 5am this morning 80 degrees.searched for cooler water with no success so decided to go after some more Spots for my bait pen. Managed to get 23 more Spots so I now probably have about 80 penned up. Gave them a nice lunch before leaving the dock
I will take tomorrow off as there is no way the water will coold down much and it looks like it might be stormy

JULY27 FISHING REPORT

Left dock around 5am looking for some cool water ,Dick left before me and found 68 degree water and got 1 -21 bass by time I got there water was up over 70 and climbing. I found no bass. Decided to go back to Spot fishing to add more to my pen before I start my Spot training session. Picked up 18 spots .I decided to make a couple of drifts for fluke on bottom of tide and picked up 3 including 1-20″er
Than I called it a day. Tomorrow with an hour later tide I hope to get into that block of cooler water with a couple of well trained Spots

JULY 26 FISHING REPORT

Another day of bait fishing as water continues to be over 75 and fishing reports are not good so went right after Spots. First stop was where I’ve been catching them but nothing not even sea bass, this was strange so headed to another spot and started drift in 2 ft of water dropping into 4ft. Goal was 10 Spots and I ended up with 12 ,little smaller than I would like but with a healthy diet they grow pretty fast so should be perfect once bass get active.
I will probably do it again tomorrow unless there is a water temp drop

JULY 25 FISHING REPORT

left dock hoping to find some cool water for bass no such luck 75 was lowest ,made a couple of drifts for Fluke ,picked up 3 shorts and decided to find some more Spots
Managed to put 11 spots in the bait pen
I’m catching spots on bloodworms, nightcrawlers ( have to be careful as they quickly turn white) and fish bites. Doesn’t seem to matter once you find them

JULY 24 FISHING REPORT

Plan this morning was to go out on bottom of the tide and catch some Spots for my bait pen and nothing else. Could not find the Spots schooled up but they were a few around and fishing through the small sea bass I managed to put 14 Spots in my pen for future bass trips once water cools down .Couple of days of SW wind would help cool water as I do believe there are bass here but warm water shuts them dowm.Probably will do same thing tomorrow unless Isee a water temp drop

JULY 21, FISHING REPORT

Went out this morning looking for water temps below 70 but never found any. Did pick up 3 -16″ fluke than decided to go catch a few more Spots for my bait pen .Picked up another 6 before calling it a day Inshore fishing SUCKS ,currently

July 21 fishing report

The past couple of days I’ve been fishing for Spots for my live bait box in preparation of the Striped bass run in early Fall .I have about 35 in my pen which should be able to handle 100 .
I will spend some time this week training the ones I have so they will be ready and also next week probably will continue adding to the count. Water temps have dropped a litte l so will look for bass in morning before I set up a Spot training session
